Thanks to a reader for this link to a very good article: "The Vindication of Humanae Vitae" by Mary Eberstadt, an essay published by First Things.
The author looks in detail at the specific predictions made by Pope Paul VI and after demonstrating the striking way in which they have been proved accurate, she quotes Archbishop Chaput who said:“If Paul VI was right about so many of the consequences deriving from contraception, it is because he was right about contraception itself.”

thanks for the link to the great article...
it is nice to hear other people who are embracing and upholding humanae vitae lately. I say this with some sadness as there were several religious and priests from our diocese who wrote terrible letters which were vehemently opposed to the teaching in our local catholic paper.
it was a travesty and a scandal, to say the least.
Working in the field of FertilityCare and NaProTechnology I have become very aware that it is the very field of medicine which is most closely linked with the contraceptive culture (gynaecology), is also the field where the woman in the process of the medical treatment has become most 'objectified'. It is hardly in the 'emotional and psychological equilibrium' of the woman to be inseminated in a doctor's office by a physician holding a syringe with (hopefully) the husband's sperm. The woman's cyclic expression of her feminity gets completely disrupted not just by chemical contraceptives but also by most protocols of reproductive medicine. Yet where are the voices of feminists calling for their right to conceive their children in their own homes or that money be invested in finding cures rather than improve the bypassing process of infertility? As a result of contraception women themselves have lost respect for and knowledge of what is a big part of their expression as a woman. It is a real previlege to work in a field that goes beyond seeing the problem, but also shows individuals and couples a way out of this cultural misery. And what inspired the development of FertilityCare and NaProTechnology?...Thanks be to God for Humanae Vitae!
