I will give a couple of quotations that particularly struck me, the first one from Joanna Thabathi. Here we have a Director of Social Services (Mopani District, Limpopo Province) who encourages parents to take responsibility for educating their own children in intimate matters rather than leaving the task to others:
"Let us talk to our children. Let us not be afraid of our own children. Let us give them the respect and the guidance that they want; because they need to be guided, they need to be shown the way. Let us not wait for our neighbours to tell our children what to do and what not to do."and then this rather stark point made by David Kalema:
"My friends who used to laugh at me thinking that abstinence is abnormal, most of them are dead by now."H/T Auntie Joanna

Wow, that last quote is pretty sad and powerful.

Dr John Shea has produced a pamphlet available at the web site below giving detailed medical/technical explanation in layman’s terms as to why these devices do not prevent the transmission of the HIV/AIDS virus. Printed in 2002, the technical content is still valid, however the statistics are out of date. The “Official” Worldwide numbers of persons with AIDS/HIV infections are now close to 50 million. “Official” numbers of those having died from the infection is approaching 30 million. These data are for a 30 year period.

The following account “Where Have All The Swazis Gone?” gives insight into a society coping with a culture of death. Their HIV/AIDS infection rate is approaching 50%. Financial resources are drained in paying medical costs for the sick and funeral expenses for the deceased.
