Miracle of the Sun anniversary

Today is the anniversary of the miracle of the sun at Fatima, observed by 70,000 people on 13 October 1917. This video has contemporary photographs of the crowds:

Back in March, I mentioned the new film "The 13th Day". It has opened at various locations in the US today.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

if i were a cynical atheistic skeptic type, i would wonder why they didn't take any pictures of the sun itself. wasn't it meant to have come down and weaved in and out of the crowds? if i had a camera i'd have taken a few snaps of that, rather than the crowds of gawking spaniards. just saying...

And we are still waiting for the full disclosure of the third secret and the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The world's problems are so complicated, but God's solutions are so simple.

This day is so significant, for all of us,for our souls, and yet as usual it is only the older ladies who understand this. The same as at the Cross. Perhaps that is Our Lord's acknowledgment of us,and in that sense,we must be affirmed and remain faithful. Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us,each and every soul.

Dear Grom Reader, It's not easy to take a picture of the sun with a regular camera (have you ever tried?)

Anyway, there are videos and pictures of 'sun miracles' around.

Grim Reader. There does exist primitive newsreel footage of the sun rotating and then falling from its height. Some sections of the crowds, of course, panicked.
I am sure a diligent seach would produce the 'evidence' you seek (apart from the eye witness accounts of some 70,000 folk who were there.

Still cynical? See Fr Z's 'what does the prayer really say?' blogspot on 13th October for a very measured account.

Ismael, since the sun wasn't behaving normally it may have been perfectly photographable. After all, the gawkers were able to look at it directly which would usually be very dangerous. Did any of them suffer eye damage after this? Surely the first thing you do to photograph the sun is to increase the shutter speed. I'll ask my photographer friend how he would have gone about it if he'd been there.

Also, if it is so difficult to photograph the sun, where did these other pics of purported sun miracles come from? By the way, I googled them and couldn't find any. Got links?

Zephyrinus, apologies for calling them spaniards. In my defence, I was getting into my rude atheist persona.
