Google Wave and Flocknote

MmmmKay - as they say in some parts. I have just submitted to a nag and joined Google Wave. I have looked at some of the stuff about "Working with Waves" and am wondering how it is going to help. This is not meant to be a skeptical comment since Google have proved to be smart in developing tools that are indeed helpful: Google Mail was a breath of fresh air, for example. So if you have used Google Wave for anything, feel free to drop in a comment.

I am also seriously looking at FlockNote which provides parishes with a way to organise feeds to email, Facebook, or SMS. That attracts me because I have found that quite a number of people use SMS (mobile phone text messages) much more readily than email and it would be quite cool to allow people to choose how to receive feeds about various events. Again, if anyone is using FlockNote in their parish or organisation, I would be glad to hear how it's going.

I see google wave being useful for collaboration work and there is potential to connect it to blog posts (which would be nice).

I think before it can be useful though they need to connect it to email so that it doesn't just sit there.

I just snagged the flocknote for our parish. I am really pumped to use it, but, because I am not the pastor, I am a little hesitant to jump into this fully as I will probably be reassigned come May. So I will probably pass it along to the next associate and see if he wants to run with it.

I just got onto Wave and I am convinced that this is what e-mail will generally look like in the near future. I plan to use Wave whenever possible. I intend to be that guy that insists upon waving rather than e-mail. I will be annoying for a while, but soon, I think people will adopt this form of communication.

I think that the really attractive feature of Flocknote is that people can choose to receive messages in the way that they want - it will need to roll out connections with other social networking tools as they become popular.

(Father - I wish you all the best for the coming year, especially if you are reassigned.)

Hey all!

Thanks for mentioning flockNote. I am the founder of it. Just to let you know, we are right in the middle of making a whole lot of great improvements to flockNote that should be rolling out in the next couple months. They are going to make it a whole lot more effective.

Thanks for your support! God bless!
