No, Pope Ratzinger should not resign. He should remain in charge of the whole rotten edifice – the whole profiteering, woman-fearing, guilt-gorging, truth-hating, child-raping institution – while it tumbles, amid a stench of incense and a rain of tourist-kitsch sacred hearts and preposterously crowned virgins, about his ears.Does that not sound a whole lot like a previous propagandist against another world religion?
Just for the record, here are a couple of the comments that have been published at the Richard Dawkins website:
Appeal for an anti-Catholic Kristallnacht:
Until the mid 60's it was traditional for a monk to appear three times before a new pope at his coronation, to burn a taper and utter the words "sic transit gloria mundi" (thus passes the glory of the world) as a reminder of the transitory nature of life and earthly honours. It is about time Herr Ratzinger had such a reminder, but in his case it should be the whole of his church that burns.Pressing for a "solution" to the problem:
May the drum beat of criticism go forth in perpetuity! Or at least until the beast is dead.

How is it that any decent reporter relies on this man as a source? Can you imagine relying upon someone who said similar things about, say, the NAACP?
You've put your finger on it: Dawkins and his ilk are fascists, like the Nazis and the BNP. Today Philip Pullman informed us that nobody has a right not to be offended. So where's his defence of The Satanic Verses?
How appropriate these words from R. Dawkins are quoted on Passion (Palm) Sunday...why just didn't he say "Crucify him! Crucify him!"?
Prayers are in much need for this poor soul; he's in dire straits, I'm afraid.
The whole thing fills me with both fear and loathing. We here at home are offering up all we can for the Pope, and trying to think of Jesus's words when He said blessed are you when they persecute and revile you...
The only stench here is that of RD's hatred which must be consuming him from the inside out. I wonder what drives it?
Father,
One thing that jumped out at me from the piece by Dawkins was the end when he went after three things...
1-Incense
2-The Sacred Heart
3-Crowned Virgins
In so doing he has unwittingly reminded us Catholics of three wonderful spiritual aids that we ought to cling too with envigorated fervor!
"profiteering, woman-fearing, guilt-gorging, truth-hating, child-raping institution"
"...and how dare you suggest I'm guided by irrational hatred! My every utterance is the product of cool Vulcan-like objectivity and a lifetime devoted to disinterested scientific principles..."
This is actually sickening.
Damian Thompson's parting shot was simply hilarious. I really enjoyed that.

It seems to me that these remarks of Professor Dawkins almost certainly constitute an 'Incitement to Religious Hatred', and thus bring him within the scope of the criminal law.
I appreciate that we should 'turn the other cheek' when men 'pesecute us and despitefully use us'; but given Professor Dawkins' quite deranged hatred for all forms of religion, it seems to me that there might be an argument that something should be done now, if only on the 'Pastor Niemöller' basis.
Dominic Mary - I think you are right. It would be good to have a legal opinion on this.
I wonder whether the problem with Dawkins may not be hatred as such, but a fear that the religious point of view might not turn out to be right after all. I remember being struck by this the other day when hearing him read from the Song of Songs on the Sunday programme. The ranting professor spoke of the sacred text with something approaching love and whilst he was, of course, careful to say that this was a non-religious poem, I would not mind betting that it is precisely the religious element – i.e. the fact that Song of Songs is about the relationship between Christ and the individual soul – that attracts him (albeit subconsciously), and that it is the fear of this attraction which gives his rhetoric its extraordinary intensity.
We must pray for Dawkins, but if our prayers are heard, and, like Augustine, he “learns to love thee late” we may well gain one of the best apologists, or even one of the best saints, we’ve ever had.
This link provides the perfect antidote to Dawkins-ism...

If you ain't seen it before you're in for a treat!
Fr. Tim,
Clearly, Richard Dawkins has never heard of the adage that the first person to lose his temper has lost the argument.
Dear Father Finigan
My individual Catholic case for the defence against neo-Nazi abuse began in earnest during the Regina v Hobson 1991 ILCC trial.
"The Devil was born in Deptford, the son of a Catholic whore", was the phrase that I chose to use, to highlight the HATEGEI$T coming my way INSIDE 'n' OUT for daring to oppose NF/BNP entry-ism into London's Sporting/Planning Arena at the Old Addeyans FC/Densitron International PLC development in South East London. The comment drew shocked gasps from the jury, and a knowing smile from good Judge Smith, whose summing up swayed the verdicts (two not guilty's ABH & Threats to kill) in my favour.
Attempts to silence me using Densitron's financial muscle, perjury, and Civil Law also failed.
In my professional opinion Civil Law proceedings, as well Criminal Law proceedings should also therefore be considered by your legal team v Professor Dawkins.
Damages for abuse are certainly long overdue in my poor English Catholic case, and in the words of the late Canon David Diamond, the C of E's & Deptford's Guardian of Walsingham, "Hail Mary Mother of God, send us down a couple of bob"
Former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, has bottled out of standing as a candidate for MP in Father Finigan's Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Blackfen ("PAPA RATZI ORA PRO NOBIS!"), which is in the late Sir Edward Heath's Old Bexley & Sidcup constituency, and he has run away to hide in Dagenham & Rainham, where the shadow of the odious BNP leader Nick Griffin is casting it's sinister spell of darkness over Barking.
At the next General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, will now be standing as a candidate for MP in the Dagenham and Rainham Parliamentary constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader will be standing as a candidate for MP in the neighbouring Parliamentary constituency of Barking. The BNP are also threatening to put up candidates in both the Bexleyheath and Crayford, and the Old Bexley and Sidcup constituencies in the London Borough of Bexley.
Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen
Yours sincerely
Roy Hobson aka Our Lady's "Vesper" +

Hatred like this is allowed in the mainstream because a scientist says it. We must always beware of those who command respect and authority: sometimes they deserve neither
Dawkins is supposedly a Professor of the "Public understanding of science" yet we have this in his description of Pope Benedict:
a man whose preaching of scientific falsehood is responsible for the deaths of countless AIDS victims in Africa
A true scientist would not make a claim like this without proof. It's a hypothesis, now let him show some evidence for it.
First of all, a simple linkage. Is there any correlation between prevalence of AIDS and prevalence of Catholicism in Africa? He has made a serious claim here, so that would be just the starting point to back up that claim. A scientist who wrote a paper without even doing this would be a laughing stock in his discipline.
A scientist is also willing to accept alternative hypotheses and seek to test them by looking at the evidence. The alternative hypothesis is that heavy promotion of condoms is counter-productive, because it gives the impression that promiscuity is accepted even to be expected. In reality, even when condoms are readily available they are not always used. We do not need to go to Africa to see this. In our inner cities here, most young people know about condoms and they are easy to buy. I hardly suppose there are many who engage in promiscuous sex and who say "but I had better not use a condom as Pope Benedict says I shouldn't". Yet casual pregnancy and sexual transmitted diseases are rife. So heavy promotion of condoms actually causes more promiscuous sex, not all of which is with condoms, so AIDS is spread.
There is nothing "religious" in this second hypothesis. A true scientists would be willing to consider it and to look at the evidence for and against it. A true scientist would welcome alternative hypotheses and those who put them forward instead of abusing them for reason unconnected with the science.
Almighty God, how long will you suffer to see Your Blessed and Immaculate Mother to be mocked by Godless worldlings? If he will not be converted, let him be crushed before Thy feet and rendered unable to offer such impious assaults on Thy Holy Faith any more.
